Dvico, the company that builds the Fusion5 PCI and USB HDTV tuners, developed a free test software program that will verify if your PC can display HDTV with your current graphics card and processor.

Go to Fusion download page and install “Fusion HDTV Demo 2.60 Software”. During the install process, when prompted for your processor and graphics card type it’s important to answer correctly. Too high a setting will cause stuttering or no picture. If you need to modify the selection, you’ll have to reinstall the Demo software to change the selection. If you cannot run at Pentinum 4 + Nvidia MX440 ,420, FX Series mode, forget about using any tuners other than the Fusion or MyHD, as the other tuners cannot be adjusted and require a minimum of that hardware environment.

After a required reboot, go back to Fusion download page , download and save “Sample Clip for ATSC 720P” into C:Program Files>DVICO>FusionHDTVDemo. This assumes you loaded the demo player in the default folder. If not, load it in the folder the Fusion Demo app resides.

NOTE: You really need a high speed connection for this download since the file is 73 MB.

Go to the Desktop and double click on the Fusion Demo icon. This will run a 20 second demo HDTV file and should give you a good idea how your PC will perform and what type of picture to expect.
