Review of the Artec T14A USB Tuner

PROS
  • Works in Media Center 2005 and Vista Media Center with latest drivers
  • Don’t have to open the case or taking up a PCI slot
  • No internal card to cool and less power consumption than a standard PCI card
  • Good for Laptops, even the included antenna fits easily in a carrying case
  • Low cost

    CONS

  • Runs hotter than other USB tuners
  • A noticeable video skip/jerk ever 55 seconds when using the included application or Media Center 2005.
  • Won’t work properly with the ATI HDTV Wonder when using MCE
  • Included application does not record or time-shift
  • Average to poor at pulling in weak signals
  • No Remote

    COST: Around $60

COMMENTS: This is an OK tuner for most newer laptops. The big downside is the sometimes noticeable, somethings subtle screen display skip every 55 seconds.
