SiliconDust HDHomeRun Dual Digital Tuner Information Page
<

Here's some basic information about the HDHomeRun (HDHR)
- The HDHR is small - approximately 7 1/8" x 4 5/8" x 1 1/4"
- It gets fairly warm, but not hot. DON'T set it on top of your router, both may overheat.
- It must be connected to a device that gives it a DHCP type network address. This can be a router or directly to a PC (if PC is configured correctly)
- A standard electrical connection is required for power
- A 7 foot RJ-45 cable is included with the unit
- There are no instructions or software including with the shipped unit. All instructions and software must be accessed/downloaded from
http://www.silicondust.com/wiki/support
- There are two RF connectors on the back of the unit. They can both be used for over the air or QAM cable or one of each
- Neither tuner will receive analog broadcasts, cable or over the air
- The tuners can transmit HD streams across a wireless "G", "A" or pre-N network (subject to network capacity, configuration, and signal strength limitations)
- The tuner has one network address
- Each tuner can be configured on several PC's, but can record/display only one program at a time
- The application included with the installation package (VLC LAN) can be used to record or time-shift programs. A third party application with an Electronic Program Guide (such as Microsoft Media Center, GB-PVR, or SageTV) is highly recommended for recording
- The HDHR pulls in weak and multi-path signals as well as the best PC tuner's like the OnAir GT and Vbox Cat's Eye 150
- The internal IR receiver works with Linux but not with Windows at this time
- Tuner works fine when PC comes out of hibernate/power-save mode to record (tested with Media Center)
- There is a forum discussion group on the SiliconDust Website and at AVS Fourm
here.
